I hope that you all had a good week! We had a pretty interesting week here. Lots of fun times. January has been good so far. I have also had some excellent study sessions. I am going to do a kolob study this week. Every missionary has like 20 different versions of "if you could hie to kolob" on their mp3 players. It is pretty crazy.
Personal study this week:
I read a lot in book of genesis and Abraham. As I read, I always use the footnotes and guides and index and stuff. Not matter where I am reading, the bible and the book of mormon are always talking about each other. For example, alma was talking about noah's ark in one of the chapters i read this week...where earlier this week i was reading about noahs ark. These books 100% support each other in what they teach us. It is really fun to read them side by side.
I was reading in alma 11 on one of these days, and it was talking about money and what the coinage was. At first i was thinking that this was cool but not all that important to my salvation. But when you get down later in the chapter, it says that there is this guy, a lawyer, named zeezrom, who is trying to get alma and amulek do deny christ. he says in verse "Behold, here are six onties o f silver, and all these will I give thee if thou wilt deny t he existence of a Supreme Bein g."
If you didnt know how much an ontie was, than this wouldnt mean a whole lot. But we do know how much an ontie is worth. it is the sum of all thier other coins added together...and 6 of them! That is a lot of money. This guy is tempting them with a whole ton of money. This could get pretty tempting. I love Amulek's response: O thou child of hell , why tempt ye me? Knowest tho u that the righteous yieldeth to no such temptations?
When you are living a righteous life, you will be able to withstand all temptations that are thrown at you. I know that this is true.
The week:
We had a fun week this time around. We had Zone conference up in Oulu on thursday and Friday...which was fun. We got to meet a few people. Zone conference was around 6 hours long...and then we got on the train going back to seinäjoki. The train is three hours, so we had a long time. We played uno with the vaasa 1 and 2 elders, and then with a senior couple named the harrises. When playing uno, the travel time zipps by. There was this drunk guy behind us that kept giving us advice on how to play. we got talking with him and he was a pretty cool guy. wanted to practice his english. He said that is was cool to meet people from america and not just the UK. The other missionaries were scared of him, so I gave him our card and asked if he wanted to meet for some hot chocolate sometime. He was super pumped about that, and said he would call us. pretty cool experience. We need to share the gospel with everyone. Hopefully this week we can meet with him.
The vaasa elders stayed the night with us also. we had chips and salsa, pear juice (super big here...they even sell pear ice cream and pear shakes at mccdonalds that i want to try) and chocolate. We had a nice party. They finished our puzzle which was 1500 pieces and super hard. It was of the world and we only had ocean pieces left.
we did some good finding this week...lots of good tracting and street contacting. We met a guy yesterday who said he would come to church. Hopefully it happens. In district meeting on monday, we talked a lot about finding. We are trying to come up with creative ways to do finding and to try to be converted to finding people. You cant teach anyone if you cant find anyone to teach.
That is all I have time for! Finland is great! I had a nice wipeout this week because i was using elder filedings bike...and he disconnected the hand brake, so When i tried to stop, I flew forward and crashed into him highspeed and broke my butt. I think I landed on a sharp piece of ice or something. there is like a red slash there. Right when I fell, my foot cramped up too. The weather here is great.!!!'
love elder christensen!
